On June 9, 2008, Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS) held its’ 11th Annual Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Almost 200 golfers came out to support the event and the children it serves. Thanks to the generous support of our attendees and sponsors, this year’s Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing raised over $65,000.00, which will go towards serving children in Northern Illinois through programs such as adoption, foster care, counseling and Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center. 

LCFS’ Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing brought together prominent individuals and community-minded organizations from the Chicago land area for a great day of golf, fun and community. The success of this year’s event was due in large part to the event underwriter Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chicago RFO. Their partnership with LCFS’ Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing allowed most of the proceeds to go directly to children’s services. Additional underwriters were Interact Business Products LLC and Heartland Business Systems.  For a complete list of sponsors, click here.

“The goal of our Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing is to raise funds to support the children we serve and awareness of their needs, while providing our supporters with an exceptional event experience,” explained Phillip L. Jiménez, Director of Development for LCFS.

In addition to a competitive round of golf, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy lunch, dinner and unique silent auction items donated by local businesses and individual supporters. The evening also included a few words from LCFS’ President and CEO, Gene Svebakken who spoke to the group about the important work that LCFS is doing to care for neglected children and how the attendees’ support helps to make that possible.

“LCFS’ mission is to provide love, compassion and hope to children, families, individuals and communities throughout Illinois that otherwise would not have any,” said Mr. Svebakken.

Next year’s Golf “Fore” Kids Charity Outing is scheduled for June 9, 2009 at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont.
