Christmas Angels

In the middle of the summer we start planning the LCFS Christmas Drive, with hopes to make Christmas extra special for the more than 1,800 children served statewide in LCFS’ Foster Care program.

This weekend was our Northern Illinois Santa’s Toy Store set-up day. Volunteers drove their sleighs (Uhaul trucks) to pick up gifts collected at local congregations and helped unload, unpack and sort gifts. Next week our caseworkers will “shop” for the children they work with. Then they’ll bring gifts to their foster parents for them to wrap and place under their trees for Christmas morning.

People were extremely generous with donations, and we had a great volunteer crew giving up a good portion of their Saturday to make this magic happen. A special thank you to our Christmas Drive collection sites: St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Trinity Lutheran Church in Burr Ridge, Salem Lutheran Church in Homewood and Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. LCFS is so grateful for all the support from these Christmas angels!
