LCFS COVID-19 Response

  •  March 16, 2020

To All Families Served by LCFS,

Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all those we serve, while maintaining a healthy workplace for our employees. As such, we are closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and following the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). We want to share with you the actions LCFS is taking to help protect you, our employees and all those in our care.

We are advising all families LCFS serves and our employees to follow the CDC’ Guidelines for Prevention, which include:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home when sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using household cleaning spray or wipes regularly.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 sec.

LCFS has implemented a social distancing plan for employees. All offices will remain open, but staff who are able will work from home. Home visits will still be occurring and LCFS remains committed to serving all those in our care.

If you, a child in your care or someone in your home develops symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, do the following:

  • Contact your doctor
  • Inform your LCFS Child Welfare Specialist immediately

The safety and well-being of all the children and families we serve and our staff remain at the forefront of all of our thinking and planning. The current national strategy is to do all that we can to slow down the spread of this virus. You can learn more about the current situation at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019ncov.

LCFS leadership will monitor the situation continuously and provide updates as necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to your Child Welfare Specialist or Supervisor. LCFS is committed to serving you and the children in your care as we navigate these uncertain times together.

Respectfully,

Mike Bertrand
President & CEO
